Step into a rewarding contract role as a Special Education Teacher supporting 5th and 6th grade students in an inclusion math classroom near Washington, DC. You’ll play an essential part in ensuring continuity of learning by covering a maternity leave from August 13 through December 1. This position focuses on providing individualized, 1:1 targeted math instruction using a pull-in method, making a real difference in each student’s educational journey.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching credential
• Experience working as a Special Education Teacher, particularly in math
• Skilled in supporting upper elementary (5th and 6th grade) curriculum within an inclusion setting
• Strength in individualized and small group instruction, especially for students with diverse learning needs
• Familiarity with differentiated instruction and IEP implementation
• Collaborative approach with general education teachers and support staff
• Excellent communication, record-keeping, and problem-solving abilities

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver targeted 1:1 math instruction to students in the inclusion classroom
• Collaborate daily with classroom teachers to adapt lessons and ensure alignment with students’ IEPs
• Monitor student progress and provide data-driven feedback to the team
• Facilitate a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom climate
• Adjust interventions and instructional techniques to meet evolving student needs
• Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and student growth
