Senior Scientist, siRNA Pipeline Development, Ex-hepatic

Senior Scientist position within the siRNA therapeutics group at AbbVie, focused on advancing RNA-based therapies for extrahepatic delivery. The role involves designing delivery platforms, executing proof-of-concept studies, and collaborating across functions to support novel therapeutic development.

Responsibilities

• Lead research efforts within cross-functional team to advance siRNA therapeutics for extrahepatic pipeline development
• Design and develop novel extrahepatic siRNA delivery platforms for targeted tissue delivery
• Conceive and execute proof-of-concept experiments to validate scientific hypotheses and address technical challenges
• Develop in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo assays to assess siRNA candidates and delivery technologies
• Analyze multidisciplinary data to generate conclusions and mentor junior scientists on the team

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in molecular biology, RNA biology, cell biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or biomedical engineering
• 8-10+ years relevant experience (MS) or 10-12+ years (BS) or 0-4+ years (PhD)
• Hands-on experience designing and executing in vitro and in vivo siRNA delivery platform studies
• Demonstrated expertise in siRNA therapeutics design, development, characterization, and optimization
• Extensive experience with molecular and RNA biology techniques: cell culture, RT-PCR, qPCR, NGS, ELISA, Western blot, flow cytometry
• Proven ability to develop, troubleshoot, and refine assays for sensitivity and reproducibility
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in technical reports or publications
