Account Executive I - Voluntary Benefits

Overview Lockton is seeking an experienced, dynamic client services professional in the Employee Benefits space. The Account Executive (AE) is a strategic leader within the Voluntary Benefits Consulting practice, responsible for owning client strategy, delivering consultative guidance, and driving outcomes that enhance benefit offerings and business growth. This role leads client engagements across market segments, influences decision-making, and partners with internal teams to deliver integrated, data-driven solutions. The AE plays a critical role in advancing the practice by identifying opportunities for growth, shaping client strategy, and mentoring team members. Responsibilities Lead client strategy for voluntary benefits programs, aligning recommendations to workforce needs, funding strategy, and overall benefits philosophy. Provide consultative guidance across the full lifecycle (strategy, RFPs, marketing, implementation oversight, renewals). Interpret complex financial, benchmarking, and market data to develop clear, actionable recommendations. Influence client decision-making through strong storytelling, insight, and subject matter expertise. Own client engagements end-to-end, including deliverables, timelines, risk management, and outcomes. Lead client meetings and manage stakeholder expectations to ensure consistent value delivery. Successfully manage multiple priorities, projects, and team contributions across accounts. Identify opportunities to expand voluntary benefits offerings and drive revenue growth within existing accounts. Support and lead RFP processes including vendor sourcing, evaluation, analysis, and recommendations. Contribute to new business pursuits and finalist presentations as needed. Actively shape client strategy to unlock long-term growth opportunities. Maintain deep understanding of industry trends, product innovation, and regulatory environment to inform client strategy. Bring forward new ideas, solutions, and best practices to enhance client outcomes and differentiate the practice. Contribute to development of tools, frameworks, and intellectual capital. Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers and vendor partners. Guide vendor selection and negotiation strategies aligned to client needs. Evaluate market capabilities and bring forward differentiated solutions. Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering growth, accountability, and high performance. Lead cross-functional teams, coordinating resources to deliver seamless client experiences. Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field and/or years of experience equivalent. Typically, 7 years or more of client service experience in a health and welfare/employee benefits environment; at least five (5) years of this experience at a consulting and/or brokerage firm. Experience presenting in front of clients. Firm working knowledge of group benefits in multiple product lines and a basic understanding of risk management. Working knowledge of different financial arrangements and products available to clients. Strong knowledge of underwriting, financing, and funding approaches. Ability to prepare and present client presentations with clarity and understanding. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Understands industry trends and governmental regulations. Ability to complete continuing education requirements as needed. Current Life & Health license or ability to obtain immediately. Ability to attend company, department, and team meetings as required, including industry training sessions. Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information. Ability to efficiently organize work and manage time to meet deadlines. Ability to travel by automobile and air travel as needed. Ability to use office equipment and work on a computer for extended periods. Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
