PARTNERSHIP COORDINATOR

Summary

This position is located in the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Alaska State Office, US Department of Agriculture (USDA). This position serves as the State Coordinator that promotes and fosters broad conservation partnerships and cooperative relationships with stakeholders, partners and Tribal entities that advance Natural Resource interests in concert with the NRCS mission.

Duties

Help

• Responsible for working closely with the state communications staff in planning and implementing natural resource conservation communications and marketing programs for NRCS.
• Provides guidance and consultation to NRCS State Leadership and staff
• Advises State Conservationist on the development of Tribal and community relations efforts aimed at an increased understanding of the NRCS.
• Develops performance standards and evaluates the performance of subordinate staff.
• Applies NRCS conservation program knowledge by reviewing guidance and collaborating with partners weekly to support conservation efforts.

S pecialized Experience Requirement

For the GS-13 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in federal service or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Specialized experience is defined as Developing and implementing a communication network among the various conservation partners, agriculture organizations, state natural resource agencies and other federal conservation agencies to provide timely and relevant data on key conservation issues; Representing the agency in conferences and meetings; and Advising State Conservationist on the development and community relations efforts.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade Requirement: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. You must meet this requirement by the closing date of this announcement.

Time Limited Assignment : If your current permanent place of residence is not Alaska, your initial tour of duty may be up to 3 years. You may serve additional years, not to exceed 5 years in total, with agency approval. At the completion of the time limited assignment, you will be returned to a position in the agency within the same geographic location that you left (where possible) and have guaranteed rights to a position of grade equivalency. Guaranteed return rights are forfeited after 5 years.

Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary although there may be some walking and travel to attend meetings away from the work site.

Work Environment: The work is typically performed in an office setting with adequate heat, light, ventilation, etc.
