Fringe Benefit Payroll Specialist (3-Month Contract)

Location: Peoria
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $24.00 – $27.00 per hour
Position Type: Full-Time, 3-Month Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Fringe Benefit Payroll Specialist to join our team on a 3-month contract basis. This role is responsible for administering and accurately processing taxable and non-taxable fringe benefits through payroll while ensuring compliance with all applicable IRS and state tax regulations.

The ideal candidate will have strong payroll experience, a solid understanding of fringe benefit taxation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to maintain accurate records in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process taxable and non-taxable fringe benefits through payroll
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations related to employee benefits
• Calculate and process the taxable value of fringe benefits, including:
• • Company vehicles
  • Employer-paid life insurance exceeding $50,000
  • Taxable relocation expenses
  • Taxable tuition assistance
  • Wellness incentives
  • Gift cards, awards, and employee recognition programs
  • Housing and travel benefits
• Reconcile payroll deductions and benefit records
• Collaborate with Human Resources and Benefits teams to ensure accurate benefit administration
• Prepare year-end W-2 adjustments related to fringe benefits
• Assist with payroll audits and maintain supporting documentation
• Research and resolve payroll and benefit discrepancies
• Ensure payroll records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready

Qualifications Required

• 3+ years of payroll experience
• Knowledge of fringe benefit taxation and payroll compliance
• Experience processing payroll in a high-volume environment
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism

Preferred Experience:

Experience with payroll systems such as:

• • ADP
  • Workday
  • UKG
  • Ceridian Dayforce
  • SAP
  • LPC
• Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
• Experience supporting payroll audits and year-end payroll activities
