Associate Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with experience in handling Tort matters to join its growing office in Newark, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience and active licenses in both New Jersey and New York. Candidates with general liability experience are also encouraged to apply. Duties Provide initial analysis and develop case strategy. Prepare and respond to discovery. Take and defend depositions, draft motions, and attend hearings. Explain legal options to clients and highlight possible outcomes or threats. Build and maintain relationships with clients. Negotiate, research, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Requirements Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school. In good standing and able to practice law in New Jersey and New York. Strong critical thinking skills and solid academic background. Strong sense of urgency in problem-solving and meeting deadlines. Knowledgeable, attentive, and proactive. Excellent communicator, negotiator, public speaker, and problem solver. Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a track record of meeting billable hours goals. Detail-oriented, organized, and effective. Professional demeanor and ability to communicate well with staff. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook; experience with iManage and/or OneDrive is a plus. Education Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Certifications Licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York. Skills Critical thinking and problem-solving. Effective communication and negotiation. Research and writing proficiency.
