Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Trailer Mechanic to join our client's maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of trailers and heavy equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and optimal performance. Your expertise will help keep their fleet operational and compliant with industry standards, contributing to the smooth flow of operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity for mechanics passionate about heavy equipment, vehicle diagnostics, and hands-on repair work.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough inspections of trailers, including brakes, suspensions, axles, tires, lights, and air systems to identify issues early.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on trailers such as wheel alignments, brake repairs, suspension work, hydraulic system servicing, and electrical diagnostics.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems accurately.
- Fabricate or modify trailer components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to meet specifications.
- Repair or replace diesel engines, transmissions, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and other heavy equipment components.
- Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts, excavators, cranes, or tractor-trailers safely during repairs or movement of trailers.
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure all work complies with safety standards and industry regulations.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on trailer repair or heavy equipment maintenance.
- Relevent education and/or certifications helpful!
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, air brakes, electrical wiring, suspension systems, and HVAC units.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering for custom modifications or repairs.
