Applications Accepted From: All Persons Interested Department: Houston Health Department Division: Public Health Science and Surveillance Section: Bureau of Vital Statistics Reporting Location: 8000 North Stadium Dr. Workdays & Hours: MONDAY – FRIDAY, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM * Subject to Change* DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Review documentation to ensure customers are qualified to request vital records (birth and death certificates) while maintaining security and confidentiality.
• Maintain and monitor various records and reports on customer assistance including state mandated electronic systems.
• Distribute information to the public on vital records, request statutory requirements.
• Collect and balance daily revenue from the sale of vital records, receipts, or fees.
• Research, analyze, and resolve standard customer problems and inquiries by various forms of communication i.e. phone, email, in person, etc.
• Review order requests for vital records into the Houston Health Department and State vital records system.
• Accurate processing of orders and certified record printing to ensure the correct issuance of vital records.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or light lifting of materials of up to 10 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. The position may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of a monitor.

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or a GED. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years of Administrative or customer service-related experience are required. Substitution: An Associate's degree may be substituted for up to two years of the experience requirement. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: None.

Preferences

• Selected candidate must pass the Texas Department of State Health Services required background check
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
