HVAC Mechanic I

Overview HVAC Mechanic I (S) – Department: NC Department of Administration, Facility Management. Position Number 60014711. Grade NC08. The Facility Management division aims to provide a safe and healthful work environment for employees and the public in a cost-effective and energy-efficient manner through routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance of state facilities. Responsibilities Perform installation, operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of Downtown Complex heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment. Troubleshoot and test electrical, digital, and pneumatic controls as needed. Conduct preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment, ice machines, water coolers, water pumps, and air compressors. Be available on a rotating basis for emergency call backs. Utilize basic personal computer skills as part of job duties. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED and three years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling systems, chilled water distribution, and control systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Current EPA certification as Type I, II, III, or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F. Working knowledge of refrigeration theory and building automation systems (BAU). Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair skills for complex electrical control systems. Experience reading blueprints and wiring diagrams; familiarity with DDC automation systems is a plus. Employment Details Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Sign-on bonus: $5,000 for eligible applicants (see Supplemental and Contact Information) with eligibility determined at hire. Salary: Recruitment range $39,244 – $52,566; MAX salary $52,566.
