The role is part of the In‑Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on‑orbit. This role is within the In‑Space Systems Structures & Mechanisms Integrated Product Team, supporting Blue Ring, a high‑powered hybrid solar electric and chemical‑propelled spacecraft designed for unparalleled mission maneuverability, versatility, and capacity at significantly reduced costs. It provides comprehensive capabilities for maneuvering, hosting, and deploying payloads and infrastructure services across Earth orbits, the Moon, Mars, interplanetary regions, and near‑Earth asteroids. Role Overview As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you’ll work to generate and communicate structural loads to support the development and integration of space vehicles, mission equipment, and payloads by providing high quality engineering support by developing and anchoring system and component loads. You will collaborate across various engineering disciplines to gather the required inputs necessary to develop loads models. Special Mentions Relocation provided Travel expected up to 5% of the time Interviews will include a technical assessment Responsibilities Primary and secondary structure loads development for spacecraft and mission payloads Communicate with structural or design counterparts to convey loads and environment data or implications on design and analysis Share experience and knowledge across programs for capability development and mentoring Finite Element Model development and correlation to test data Modeling, simulation, and verification of applicable spacecraft and engine ground and flight regimes Support configuration development, trade studies, development of load and environments (vibration/shock) requirements and verification Ground and flight test dynamic data measurement and interpretation Develop and/or maintain loads data book products Resource‑intensive computing, management of large datasets, reduction, and post‑processing of data for engineering applications Minimum Qualifications Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering 8+ years of relevant engineering experience Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics‑based analytical methods (hand calculations, in‑house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools) Experience with vibroacoustic analysis Finite Element Modeling experience Experience working with and generating Craig‑Bampton models Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in coordinating small to medium‑sized teams Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications Spacecraft & launch vehicle loads experience Experience with the following commercial software tools: HYPERMESH, ANSYS, NASTRAN DMAP, ATA's iMAT (MATLAB Toolbox), PYTHON, FORTRAN, WAVE6, SEA+, LSDYNA, ADAMS Experience with time domain, frequency domain, and/or random vibration statistical analysis Experience developing custom analysis tools and processes Experience with fatigue analysis and development Experience with dynamic (modal) testing and correlation of structures Experience with instrumentation for ground and flight tests Experience with mathematical modeling, simulation, and control algorithms Experience with multi‑body dynamic analysis Experience with high performance computing, management of large sets of data Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance Base Pay Range for: CA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20; CO applicants is $133,500.00 - $186,898.95; WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20.
