The Sustainability Group at Temasek comprises multiple specialized sub-teams that work in partnership with the Investment Group and functional teams to strengthen the organization’s sustainability capabilities. These sub‑teams include Sustainability Strategy, which advances policies toward net zero and inclusive growth; Sustainable Solutions, which drives decarbonization and identifies investment opportunities in sustainable living trends; ESG Investment Management, which integrates environmental, social, and governance considerations across the investment process; and Ecosperity, which accelerates systems‑change through engagement, thought leadership, and advocacy. About this Role Temasek’s ESG Investment Management team is seeking an experienced ESG professional to support the integration of environmental, social, and governance considerations across new investment opportunities and targeted portfolio company engagements. This position represents a key role within a global team that works across multiple geographies and time zones to strengthen Temasek’s sustainability capabilities. The successful candidate will report to the Director of ESG Investment Management based in Singapore and will collaborate closely with the Chief Sustainability Officer based in New York, as well as the broader ESG Investment Management team and relevant teams within the Investment Group and Sustainability Group. This role requires strong cross-functional collaboration and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and geographies in a fast‑changing environment. The position involves serving as a trusted business partner to the Investment Group throughout the investment lifecycle, from pre-investment due diligence through post-investment engagement. The candidate will be instrumental in identifying and assessing material environmental and social issues for investment targets, developing ESG action plans with portfolio companies, and ensuring both value protection and value creation. Additionally, the role encompasses building relationships with external asset managers, conducting research on critical ESG topics and megatrends, and supporting the development of Temasek’s sustainability knowledge repository. Responsibilities Act as a trusted business partner to the Investment Group throughout the investment lifecycle Conduct pre-investment due diligence by partnering with the Investment Group to identify and assess material environmental and social issues for investment targets, evaluating both risk management and value uplift perspectives Support post-investment engagement activities to ensure value protection and value add through the development of ESG action plans with key portfolio companies in partnership with the Investment Group Build and deepen relationships with Temasek’s key external asset managers to foster greater exchange of ESG best practices and enhance ESG integration for co‑underwrites and co‑investments Conduct research and deliver thematic reports on cross-cutting ESG topics and megatrends that impact investment decisions, portfolio management, and value creation Support the continued development of Temasek’s sustainability knowledge repository through delivery of ESG tools and guidelines, curation of ESG case studies, and ESG learning sessions for the Investment Group and portfolio companies Manage and expand the knowledge network of ESG consultants, subject matter experts, and partners to leverage external capabilities for ESG pre‑investment due diligence and post‑investment value creation Partner with and support the Chief Sustainability Officer, the Director of ESG Investment Management, and other teams across the Sustainability Group in advancing and executing on broader strategic priorities Prepare and deliver internal and external updates related to ESG activities and broader trends Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Sustainability, or related disciplines; Master’s degree or higher is preferred At least ten years of work experience in ESG integration, sustainability implementation, or sustainable investing in private equity, investment management, management consulting, or within an operating company Robust understanding of ESG opportunities and risks, especially in critical sustainability themes such as climate, social, and nature as they apply to and shape long‑term corporate strategies Collaborative, curious, and agile in working across geographies and diverse teams in a fast‑changing environment, including willingness to work hours that extend across global time zones Team player with strong intercultural awareness, team orientation, and demonstrated strong ownership and work ethic with a track record of initiating, driving, and executing across multiple initiatives Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and clarity in presenting complex information Familiarity with the use of artificial intelligence tools is a plus Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship Benefits Competitive base salary within the range of $170,000 to $230,000 annually, with additional incentive compensation available Global career development opportunities across Temasek’s 13 offices in 9 countries Exposure to world‑class sustainable investment practices and thought leadership Opportunity to work on high‑impact sustainability initiatives aligned with global megatrends Collaborative work environment with focus on MERITT values: Meritocracy, Excellence, Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Trust Access to a diverse and international team with cross‑geographic collaboration opportunities Involvement in shaping Temasek’s transformation toward Temasek 2030 strategic vision #J-18808-Ljbffr ImpactAlpha Inc.
