Project Manager
Located: Watkinsville, GA

GENERAL PURPOSE
Independently plan, coordinate, and manage multiple concurrent or complex power, industrial and construction projects from estimate through closeout. The Tier 2 Project Manager carries full project-level financial accountability, leads cross-functional execution, develops junior project staff, and serves as a primary customer relationship manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (KEY WORK)

• Lead safe work planning and execution and ensure compliance with all client and customer safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Serve as Quality Lead when assigned and ensure project teams complete required QMS documentation, inspections, and corrective actions.
• Independently manage multiple simultaneous projects or a major project with elevated technical, schedule, commercial, or customer complexity.
• Serve as the primary customer and commercial liaison for assigned accounts and projects; anticipate concerns and resolve issues within delegated authority.
• Lead estimates and proposals using processes and tools; evaluate scope, labor, materials, subcontractors, risk, margin, and commercial terms.
• Establish project execution plans, baseline budgets, schedules, procurement plans, staffing plans, and performance measures.
• Coordinate engineering and design support; review and approve drawings and submittals within assigned authority before customer submission.
• Lead project teams, field leadership, vendors, and subcontractors; align resources across concurrent work and resolve execution constraints.
• Monitor project KPIs and forecasts for safety, schedule, cost, productivity, quality, cash flow, and risk; implement and communicate corrective actions.
• Own change management for assigned projects, including notice, scope development, pricing, negotiation support, authorization, and recovery.
• Maintain full project-level profit and loss accountability for assigned work, including forecasting, cost control, billing, collections support, margin protection, and final reconciliation.
• Review project performance with division leadership and recommend resource reallocations, procurement decisions, or commercial interventions.
• Ensure complete project closeout, customer acceptance, final documentation, lessons learned, and financial reconciliation.
• Develop customer relationships, identify and qualify future opportunities, and support account planning and backlog growth.
• Mentor Tier 1 Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field leaders; provide work direction and support performance development as assigned.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and workforce planning for field crews and project support personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support division objectives and profitable project delivery.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods, including jobsite visits.
• Ability to use hands and arms for reaching, handling, and manipulating objects; manual dexterity for repetitive tasks and standard office equipment.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.; occasionally more than 50 lbs. with assistance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical discipline
• Five to ten years of progressive experience in the power, industrial, or construction industry preferred.
• Demonstrated success independently managing multiple projects or a major complex project with financial accountability required; prior superintendent or field leadership experience preferred.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Strong command of estimating, project controls, scheduling, cost forecasting, change management, and contract administration.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a complex project portfolio, prioritize resources, and make timely decisions with limited oversight.
• Strong customer-facing, negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to mentor junior project staff and coordinate cross-functional teams without relying solely on formal authority.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Advanced ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and commercial requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with consistent attention to safety, quality, risk, margin, and customer commitments.
• Ability and willingness to work from a vehicle and visit customers or jobsites frequently, up to 75% of the time.
• Willingness to travel overnight up to 10% of the time.
