Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate nursing care for Med Surg patients, including telemetry monitoring
• Administer medications and manage cardiac drips as ordered; perform accurate IV therapy and phlebotomy as needed
• Read and interpret EKG strips; respond to changes in patient status with appropriate actions
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, and promote infection control best practices
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team; document care in the electronic medical record; ensure patient safety and quality outcomes
• Float to step-down units as required; adhere to unit protocols and patient-to-nurse ratios (1:5)

Requirements

• Active New York State Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• NIH Stroke Certification required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Med Surg/Telemetry (travel experience preferred)
• Strong IV skills, ability to read EKG strips, confident with cardiac drips
• Ability to float to Med Surg/step-down and work in a hospital setting
• Flu vaccine or declination accepted; facility orientation may include additional CEUs (8 hours)
