Applicants specializing in sociocultural anthropology, psychological/medical anthropology, archaeology, environmental anthropology, cyber archaeology, marine archaeology, linguistic anthropology, or biological anthropology are invited to apply. Select your disciplines in the application process. Appointment may be for one or more quarters based on department needs and funding. Courses are undergraduate, large introductory classes (100‑200 students). The role is on‑campus; classes will be held at UC San Diego. Job Responsibilities Teach assigned courses during scheduled times. Develop syllabi, assignments, lecture slides, lesson plans, exams, and other course materials outside of class time as needed. Provide feedback to students on assignments. Hold regular office hours. Fulfill academic duties per Article 3 of the UC‑AFT MOU bargaining agreement. Potentially mentor teaching assistants, instructional assistants, and readers. Qualifications Basic qualifications (required) Master’s degree with 5 years of relevant professional experience, or a Ph.D./ABD in anthropology, archaeology, or a related field. Preferred qualifications Experience teaching large classroom sizes (100‑200 students). At least one year of university‑level teaching or mentoring in one of the specializations.
