We are currently looking to fill an ASSISTANT SITE SUPERVISOR role at our HECC FAMILY CENTER.

$3,000 Sign-on Bonus for first time employees with MFS! ($750 first paycheck, $1250 after 6 months of employment and $1000 after 1 year of employment.)

SALARY: The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $50,000 and $60,000 annually. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

1. Working with Education coaches, develop systems to support effective

teaching strategies and the Creative Curriculum, that are developmentally appropriate and that prepare children to succeed in school.

2. Under the leadership of the Stie Supervisor and in collaboration with other area content supervisors and delegate representatives, review and/or revise Head Start service plans and systems.

3. Plan and implement training for staff on required DCFS topics, Head Start Standards, NAEYC Accreditation Standards, developmentally appropriate practice, and other topics as determined by staff needs.

4. Regularly monitor program services through supervisee reports, ChildPLUS/COPA, TS Gold, delegate reports, etc.

5. As part of supervision, develop professional development plans and goals with a timeline for meeting them.

6. Provide leadership, with the Early Learning Leadership Team in developing and implementing the annual program self-assessment.

7. Working with Education Coaches and Family Engagement Coordinator Mental Health Supervisor, ensure effective transition planning – into, moving from EHS to HS, and out of the program - for children and families.

8. Ensure coordination of communication with staff, parents, program consultants and community to enhance services to children and families.

9. Adheres to compliance with funding requirements through routine revision and updates to systems, policies, and procedures. This includes but is not limited to monthly reporting, budgetary fulfillments and facility maintenance.

10. Conducts monthly supervision/coaching sessions with teaching teams on a monthly basis to develop and tracks progress on the individual team member’s Professional Development Plan.

11. Ensures that family and staff activities conform to agency and center visions as well as the Standards of Conduct policy.

12. Assess current and future facility needs, and makes preliminary arrangements with the Facilities and Transportation Manager to meet site needs.

13. Assures that all sites, in collaboration with the Facilities & Transportation Manager and Health Coordinator adhere to all Child Health & Safety standards.

14. As stipulated in the agency Code of Ethics, engage in effective interaction with diverse staff and service area populations through ongoing demonstration of non-bias respect and behavior.

15. Work cooperatively with other service area coordinators to plan education services integrated with health, mental health, abilities, dental health, nutrition, parent involvement and social services.

16. Substitutes as teaching staff when necessary.

17. Attends meetings and trainings, as requested, to keep abreast of trends in the various service areas.

18. Provides active supervision to ensure the safety of children while in the classroom, during transitions, and while on the playground. Ensures that no child shall be left alone or unsupervised.

19. Ensures all content area data is accurately reflected in the agency’s Program Information Reports within set time frames.

20. Ensures agency’s fiscal integrity by adhering to purchase approval requirements and procedures.

21. Participate in program recruitment efforts to maintain full enrollment.

22. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Education from an accredited college or university, required.

· OR Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education.

· At least two years supervisory responsibility and experience in a 0-5 age setting, required.

· Current registered Early Childhood Education Professional Educator License (PEL)-Formally Type 02 or 04 State of Illinois teaching certificate required.

· License as required by agency and governmental bodies. Possess Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificate or obtain w/in 90 days of employment.

· Demonstrated ability to work in teams.

· Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work in a complex environment.

· Mobility for travel.

· Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.

· The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.

· The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
