Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the San Jose, CA area. This onsite, contract position begins August 13th and continues through June 11th, offering the opportunity to work directly with students and collaborate with a dedicated school team. If you have a passion for inclusivity and specialized instruction, this role is an excellent fit.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold a valid California Special Education Credential authorizing instruction for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, or possess an Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Deaf & Hard of Hearing
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required
- Previous experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting is highly valued
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to fostering an equitable, supportive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Use various instructional strategies and technologies tailored to meet students’ unique communication needs
- Assess academic progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
- Serve as a resource for general education teachers, providing insights and strategies for inclusion
- Foster a positive, accessible classroom atmosphere that supports language and academic development
Additional Details:
- This position requires onsite presence; virtual or hybrid options are not available
- Full-time hours: 37.5 per week
- Contract runs from August 13th through June 11th
