Role Overview:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to design low voltage switchboards and panelboards. This role is based in the Kearny, NJ area, with relocation support available for the right candidate. You will play a key role in developing complex electrical systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring designs from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design low voltage switchboards and panelboards in compliance with applicable standards and regulations
• Create 3D sheet metal components and flat patterns
• Develop complex 3D assemblies with large multi-component BOMs
• Produce wiring diagrams including PLCs, relays, breakers, and power systems
• Generate 2D drawings including layouts, single-line diagrams, and front views
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and vendors to ensure accurate execution
• Translate client requirements into practical and efficient design solutions

Qualifications:
Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field)
• 3 to 5 years of experience in an electro-mechanical or similar environment
• Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk preferred)
• Solid understanding of electrical systems and design principles
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

• Experience with UL standards (UL891, UL67, UL508A, UL1558)
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Experience sizing conductors and overcurrent protection devices (OCPDs)
• Knowledge of control circuits and electrical logic
