Rate: $86–$96/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Software Delivery Manager to lead end-to-end software delivery within a large-scale enterprise technology environment. This role will manage technical delivery teams supporting core platforms and product teams, with particular emphasis on SAP and/or Salesforce , software releases, platform upgrades, patching, Agile delivery, DevOps practices, operational stability, and stakeholder alignment.

The IT Software Delivery Manager will serve as a hands-on delivery leader responsible for translating business and product objectives into executable delivery plans, coordinating milestones and releases, managing risks and dependencies, removing blockers, and ensuring software teams have the resources and support needed to deliver high-quality solutions. This role will also be accountable for team leadership, vendor coordination, budgets, audit and compliance activities, and continuous improvement across the software delivery lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of technical depth and delivery leadership , with prior hands-on development experience and a strong track record leading software teams within SAP, Salesforce, or similar enterprise platform environments. Experience in a regulated utility environment is strongly preferred.

Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware Delivery Leadership

• Lead end-to-end delivery of software products and technology solutions across assigned platform or product teams.

• Manage execution plans, milestones, sprint commitments, releases, dependencies, risks, and resource needs.

• Ensure delivery outcomes align with business objectives, engineering standards, operational expectations, and program priorities.

• Partner with business stakeholders, Product Owners, engineering leaders, technical teams, and vendors to maintain alignment on scope, priorities, and expected outcomes.

• Maintain clear visibility into delivery progress, risks, blockers, and milestone health.

• Drive high-integrity commitments and ensure teams have a realistic path to successful delivery.

SAP / Salesforce Platform Delivery

• Lead technical teams supporting SAP and/or Salesforce platforms .

• Coordinate patching, upgrades, releases, regression activities, deployments, and platform maintenance.

• Partner with engineering and architecture teams to ensure platform changes are technically sound and aligned with enterprise standards.

• Support planning and execution of release calendars, dependency management, regression testing, and production readiness.

• Ensure teams understand and follow appropriate technical standards, delivery procedures, and platform-specific best practices.

• Apply prior technical or engineering experience to improve delivery quality and support sound technical decision-making.

Agile Team Leadership & Coaching

• Serve as a servant leader for Agile software development teams.

• Coach teams and stakeholders on Agile delivery practices, team maturity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Partner with stakeholders and delivery teams to establish product delivery roadmaps and maintain shared understanding of business and product objectives.

• Support sprint planning, backlog readiness, estimation, sizing, milestone planning, and execution.

• Help teams limit work in progress, remove blockers, and reduce unnecessary distractions.

• Foster a collaborative culture focused on transparency, accountability, and sustainable delivery.

Release, Deployment & Milestone Management

• Coordinate software releases, regression testing, deployments, sprint execution, and production implementation activities.

• Develop and maintain integrated delivery plans and milestone schedules.

• Track delivery progress through burn-up, milestone, or similar performance measures.

• Identify schedule risks, technical blockers, resource constraints, and cross-team dependencies early.

• Develop and manage mitigation plans to protect delivery commitments.

• Partner with stakeholders to set realistic expectations around release timing and delivery confidence.

DevOps & Operational Excellence

• Promote adoption of DevOps practices that improve delivery speed, quality, consistency, and operational reliability.

• Support CI/CD, release automation, automated testing, monitoring, and production support practices.

• Optimize production system operations using monitoring, capacity analysis, root cause analysis, and other operational tools.

• Identify recurring production or delivery issues and drive corrective and preventive actions.

• Support continuous improvement in system stability, security, performance, and supportability.

• Encourage stronger collaboration between development, operations, infrastructure, security, and product teams.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

• Proactively identify delivery risks, issues, dependencies, blockers, and resource constraints.

• Maintain mitigation plans and ensure appropriate owners and timelines are established.

• Escalate significant risks or decisions to leadership in a timely manner.

• Coordinate across dependent teams to resolve cross-platform or cross-product issues.

• Protect teams from avoidable distractions while maintaining focus on high-priority delivery objectives.

• Apply structured problem-solving to complex or time-critical delivery challenges.

Stakeholder & Executive Communication

• Establish and manage stakeholder expectations around milestones, delivery status, risk, and schedule.

• Provide clear, concise, and transparent status reporting to business and technology leaders.

• Facilitate delivery reviews, risk discussions, milestone reviews, and executive updates.

• Translate complex technical and delivery issues into business-relevant language.

• Maintain strong partnerships with business stakeholders, Product Owners, engineering teams, vendors, and peer delivery leaders.

• Build trust through consistent communication, ownership, and follow-through.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

• Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to software delivery team members.

• Support team performance, career development, engagement, and retention.

• Establish clear expectations and accountability across delivery teams.

• Help team members identify growth opportunities and improve delivery effectiveness.

• Support talent acquisition and onboarding as needed.

• Foster a team culture of collaboration, ownership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Vendor, Budget & Compliance Management

• Manage third-party vendors and service providers supporting software delivery.

• Track vendor performance, deliverables, dependencies, and risks.

• Manage budgets and resources associated with assigned delivery teams or product areas.

• Support internal and external SOX reviews, audit reviews, compliance activities, and governing policies.

• Ensure delivery teams maintain appropriate documentation and follow required controls.

• Coordinate remediation actions where compliance or audit gaps are identified.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead daily and weekly software delivery activities across SAP and/or Salesforce teams.

• Review sprint progress, milestones, releases, risks, blockers, and dependencies.

• Coordinate patching, upgrades, regression testing, deployments, and platform releases.

• Partner with stakeholders and engineering teams to maintain the delivery roadmap.

• Coach Agile teams on execution, estimation, work-in-progress, and continuous improvement.

• Track delivery commitments and maintain burn-up or milestone reporting.

• Remove blockers and coordinate resolution of cross-team dependencies.

• Review production stability, monitoring, performance, and operational issues.

• Manage vendor activities, delivery expectations, and resource needs.

• Prepare leadership updates, risk summaries, release status, and milestone reporting.

• Support audit, compliance, budget, and governance requirements.

• Coach and develop team members while maintaining a high-performing delivery culture.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.

• 8+ years of experience delivering software products or enterprise technology solutions.

• 4+ years of management, leadership, or team delivery experience.

• 2+ years of hands-on software development or engineering experience.

• Experience leading technical teams on SAP and/or Salesforce platforms .

• Experience managing patching, upgrades, releases, regression, and deployments within SAP and/or Salesforce environments.

• Strong understanding of the software delivery lifecycle.

• Strong experience with Agile delivery methods and team-based product development.

• Demonstrated experience in delivery planning, milestone management, sprint execution, and release coordination.

• Proven ability to identify and manage risks, blockers, dependencies, and resource constraints.

• Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, executive communication, and expectation-setting skills.

• Experience leading, coaching, and developing software delivery teams.

• Working knowledge of DevOps practices, monitoring, root cause analysis, capacity analysis, and continuous improvement.

• Experience managing vendors, budgets, audit activities, compliance reviews, or governing policies.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to work onsite Tuesday through Thursday in Columbus, OH.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong experience working in an Agile culture with the ability to coach teams and stakeholders in Agile practice adoption and maturity.

• Experience leading delivery of software development efforts within SAP, Salesforce, or a similar enterprise technology platform.

• Strong working knowledge of DevOps practices , CI/CD, automated testing, release automation, and production monitoring.

• Technical or engineering experience with SAP or Salesforce.

• Regulated utility or energy industry experience.

• Experience supporting large-scale transformation programs or complex enterprise platforms.

• Experience leading cross-functional teams spanning development, operations, infrastructure, security, QA, and product management.

• Experience supporting SOX, audit, regulatory, or compliance requirements.

• Agile, Scrum, SAFe, PMP, or related delivery / project management certification is a plus.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned software delivery leader who combines strong technical understanding with disciplined execution and people leadership. They should be comfortable leading SAP and/or Salesforce delivery teams , managing releases and upgrades, coaching Agile teams, driving milestone performance, and resolving complex delivery risks across multiple stakeholders.

The strongest candidates will bring prior hands-on development experience, strong Agile and DevOps knowledge, experience managing enterprise platform releases, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and senior business leaders. Regulated utility experience would be especially valuable.
