About the Role:
Join the Warwick Valley Humane Society as a Shelter Manager/Animal Control Officer, where you will play a vital role in the care and management of our animal shelter. Be part of a dedicated team that is passionate about animal welfare and making a difference in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the shelter, ensuring the well-being of all animals.
- Manage staff and volunteer schedules, providing training and support.
- Coordinate animal intake, adoption processes, and public outreach programs.
- Enforce local animal control laws and regulations, including responding to calls for assistance.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, adoptions, and shelter activities.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance shelter operations.
- Work closely with veterinarians to ensure proper medical care for animals.
- Engage with the community to promote responsible pet ownership and animal welfare initiatives.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in animal shelter management or animal control.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for community engagement.
- Knowledge of animal care, behavior, and welfare standards.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain animal control certifications.
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to animal welfare.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and make quick decisions.
- Flexibility to work on call nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
