Accounts Payable Specialist

Accounts Payable SpecialistJAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.Essential FunctionsProcess branch payment requests same day via credit card, check, Paycargo, or Cargo Sprint.Post payable payments for same day payments.Process employees Company credit card transactions and out-of-pocket reimbursements.Ensure all transactions processed have appropriate backup.Reconcile assigned vendor account statements.Process the payments and receipts via the netting applicationRecord month-end closing journal entries (mainly accruals, prepayments and reclasses)Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accountsCommunicate with branches via email and telephone to resolve issues.Other duties and projects as neededQualificationsProficient and accurate data entry skills required. Payable volume can be heavy.Excel skills required for statement reconciliations. Knowledge of Vlookup a plus.Adept at computer skills including Microsoft Office suite. Paycargo is a plusEffective communication skills via phone and email required.Ability to work in a paperless environment.Detail oriented, able to multitask, set priorities and meet deadlinesEducation and ExperienceDegree in accounting or finance preferred, or 3-5 years of experience in accountingExperience in supply chain, logistics, transportation or freight forwarding preferred.Experience with GL, International accounting, and Cognos is a plusEnvironment100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. No travel will be required in support of the position's responsibilities.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.
