EMERGENCY RESPONSE DISPATCHER

Responsibilities You will receive emergency and non-emergency requests by telephone, mobile radio, mobile data computers or automatic alarms. You will screen incoming communications and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls and situations. You will maintain logs, forms and status of security and fire personnel on duty and available using CAD system. You will be responsible for obtaining the necessary information from various monitoring sources or individuals and dispatching police, fire and medical emergency services assets for Department of Defense installations. You will serve as the key point of contact between field personnel, station management and other representatives of other public safety agencies during emergency response operations or assignments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For the GS-07 position Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Operating electronic computer-based systems for emergency (Police, Fire, and/or EMS) dispatching management; 2) Operating multiple equipment/systems (i.e., Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, alarm systems, dispatch recording devices, multi-channel radios) during emergency situations; 3) Disseminating information from incoming callers during emergency situations; 4) Coordinates with military and civilian agencies in response to mutual aid requests, in accordance with locally established protocols; and 5) Screens incoming communications and prioritizes emergency/non-emergency calls and situations. For the GS-06 position Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Operating electronic computer-based systems for emergency (Police, Fire, and/or EMS) dispatching management; 2) Operating multiple equipment/systems (i.e., Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, alarm systems, dispatch recording devices, multi-channel radios) during emergency situations; and 3) Disseminating information from incoming callers during emergency situations. The position often requires irregular hours. This position is subject to recall 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The potential to work up to 16 hours at a time does exist due to unscheduled absences and/or extreme circumstances such as natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and other all hazards emergency or disaster situations. Duty hours are not permanent and shift work is required in order to provide 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days per year coverage. Incumbent is required to successfully complete the RDC Training Program to include classroom and On-The-Job Training (OJT).
