School Nursing Aide – Kearny, NJ

Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–2:30 PM | School-Based | 1:1 Student Support

Horizon Staffing Resources is seeking a compassionate and dependable 1:1 Student Aide to support a student in a Kearny, NJ school setting.

This position is ideal for someone with experience in caregiving, personal care, direct support, childcare, special education, or 1:1 assistance who wants to make a meaningful difference in a student’s school day.

The aide will provide hands-on support with mobility, personal care, toileting/continence, classroom transitions, and lunch routines , while encouraging the student’s independence and participation.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• 8:00 AM–2:30 PM
• Consistent school-day schedule
• No weekends or overnight shifts

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to the student throughout the school day
• Assist with wheelchair propulsion , including bringing the student to and from classes
• Support safe movement throughout the school and assist with classroom transitions
• Provide assistance with continence and toileting needs , including:
• • Assistance with clothing management as needed
  • Supporting the student with restroom routines
  • Assisting the student to the toilet when needed for bowel movements
  • Providing appropriate personal hygiene assistance
• Assist with lunch routines , including opening containers and packages
• Support the student during meals while encouraging independence; the student is independently able to feed himself
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care
• Support behavior management and maintain a calm, structured environment
• Attend to the student’s physical, personal, and emotional needs
• Encourage independence and participation in classroom activities
• Communicate with teachers, school staff, and the case management team
• Follow student-specific care and support guidelines
• Perform other duties as directed by the school case management team

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience providing 1:1 care, personal care, direct support, childcare, or working with children is a plus
• Experience assisting with mobility, toileting, ADLs, or individuals with disabilities is preferred
• Compassionate, patient, dependable, and comfortable providing hands-on support
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable working in a school/classroom environment
• Must have or be willing to obtain Board of Education fingerprinting
