Travel RN - GI/Endoscopy

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a GI/Endoscopy position in Salem, VA, requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and the ability to handle on-call responsibilities in a fast-paced procedural environment.

Job Details

• Located on the 2nd floor of the main hospital building in an Endoscopy unit with 4 procedure rooms,
• Unit staff of approximately 25, with day shift composed primarily of RNs alongside scrub techs and scope room techs,
• Approximately 20-30 patients move through the department each weekday,
• Common procedures include EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, and bronchoscopy,
• Equipment used includes Olympus scopes and Provation procedural documentation,
• EMR system is Meditech,
• Day shift hours are 7:00 AM-5:30 PM,
• Night shift is on-call only; weekday and weekend call is required,
• Floating to other areas is rare,

Job Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required,
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start),
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,
• Prior GI/Endoscopy experience required,
• PACU or ICU experience is preferred but not required,
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration - no exceptions,
• One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri),
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility - local candidates are not eligible,

• All RNs are cross-trained to admit patients, circulate and scrub in procedural cases, recover patients, and manage patient discharge,
• Ideal candidates are fast-paced, adaptable multi-taskers who are comfortable in frequently changing situations and work well within a team,
• Hospital-issued surgical scrubs are provided; no visible piercings are permitted,
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
