About the Position

Job Opportunity – Medical ICU Registered Nurse – Virginia

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week over 13 weeks. 1:2 patient ratio. Every other weekend and every other holiday required; must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. Up to 40 hours of time off may be approved during the contract.

Highlights:

• Work in a newly expanded 28-bed Medical ICU caring for complex, critically ill patients with multi-system failure, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, and organ failure
• Epic EMR required; comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and lift teams
• Level I Trauma experience required; care includes advanced procedures such as CRRT, SLED, percutaneous trachs, and ventilator management
• Independent charge nurse support and manageable patient ratios foster a collaborative care environment
• 13-week assignment with 24 hours of orientation
• BSN preferred; previous travel experience required

Requirements:

• Active or pending Virginia RN license (must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical ICU experience required
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, CRRT/CVVHD, arterial line management, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, and care of complex multi-system patients
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccination not required
• Willingness to adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice
