Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN - Operating Room with an active CT or compact license and Level I Trauma Center experience to work rotating shifts at an academic medical center.

Job Details

• Level I Trauma Center, academic teaching hospital setting,
• Operating Room unit supporting General OR, Hybrid OR, Trauma, and Gunshot/Stab Wound cases,
• 3x12 hour shifts on a Day/Evening/Night rotation (Days 7a-7p, Nights 7p-7a),
• Schedule is built in 6-week blocks and released 2 weeks prior to the start of each block,
• Typically scheduled one night shift per 4-week block, with occasional adjustments based on unit needs,
• Weekend shifts required,
• On-call required, up to 2 shifts per week, generally paired with scheduled shifts,
• Uses Epic for charting,
• Must circulate independently; scrub experience highly preferred,

Job Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted),
• BLS and ACLS certifications required,
• Minimum 2 years of RN Operating Room experience required,
• Level I Trauma Center experience required,
• Teaching hospital experience required,
• Epic charting experience required,
• Prior travel nursing experience required,
• Must be independent with trauma cases, craniotomy, vascular, and endo-vascular procedures,
• Neurology and craniotomy skills required,
• Robotics and orthopedic experience strongly preferred,
• One professional reference required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include circulating and scrubbing for trauma, gunshot/stab wound, craniotomy, vascular, and endo-vascular cases,
• Royal blue scrub color required,
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted,
• COVID-19 vaccine required with medical or religious exemptions only,
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require facility approval; up to 7 days can be auto-approved,
• No holiday RTO approved during this assignment,
• Travelers must be available to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed,
• Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility,
• Former staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before returning as a traveler,
