Accounting Manager – Banking

We have a client, as a result of a retirement, seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee our regulatory and tax accounting functions at our downtown branch. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient management of daily accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring robust hands-on experience in bank accounting, particularly in regulatory filings, loan and deposit accounting, and supervisory management, with a strong preference for candidates with prior banking accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Oversee investment, loan, and deposit accounting, including reconciliation and processing.
• Manage vendor expense processes and related accounting functions.
• Prepare and submit quarterly FFIEC 0051 Call Reports, Annual FR Y-6 reports, and semi-annual FR Y-9SP reports.
• Handle periodic online regulatory filings at federal, state, and city levels, including 1099 reporting.
• Supervise and mentor a team of five accounting staff, providing guidance, review, and development support.
• Oversee loan and escrow accounting processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall financial health and compliance of the organization.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on banking accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in supervisory management.
• College degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Prior experience with banking regulatory filings and compliance is highly preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Excel; experience with Jack Henry systems is a plus but not required—training can be provided.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong understanding of loan, deposit, escrow, and investment accounting processes.
