Medical Lab Technologist (MLT) - Mobile, Alabama

Opportunity available for an experienced Medical Laboratory professional with expertise in heavy blood banking. This contract position offers a chance to make a real impact in a fast-paced laboratory environment, performing critical diagnostic testing and supporting patient care teams.


Schedule/Hours:

• Night shifts with rotating weekends

Key Qualifications:

• Current certification as Medical Technologist (MT/MLS), Medical Lab Technician (MLT), or equivalent; ASCP or AMT accepted
• Solid experience with blood banking and transfusion protocols
• Previous hospital or high-volume laboratory experience strongly preferred
• Phlebotomy skills a plus, but not required
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently during overnight hours
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

• Conduct a full range of laboratory tests, focusing heavily on blood banking and transfusion medicine
• Analyze samples, interpret results, and maintain accurate documentation within laboratory information systems
• Assist with sample collection and perform phlebotomy when needed
• Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and accreditation standards
• Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and other laboratory staff to deliver precise and timely results
• Maintain and calibrate equipment, troubleshoot issues, and implement best practices to maximize workflow efficiency
• Participate in ongoing training and continuing education
