Associate Attorney

The Pre-Litigation Attorney manages personal injury cases from intake through resolution, including auto accidents, medical malpractice, and premises liability. This role also leads and mentors case managers, negotiators, and paralegals while ensuring strong client service and case results. Key Responsibilities Manage a high-volume personal injury caseload through settlement, mediation, or arbitration. Review liability, insurance coverage, medical records, damages, and case value. Develop strong cases and negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel. Communicate effectively with clients, providers, witnesses, experts, and attorneys. Conduct case reviews and identify cases that should move to litigation. Lead, coach, and mentor legal support staff. Oversee department workflow, quality, compliance, and efficiency. Coordinate settlements, liens, subrogation, and disbursements with other departments. Keep clients informed and provide excellent, compassionate service. Stay current on personal injury laws and maintain high ethical standards. Qualifications JD from an accredited law school. Active North Carolina Bar membership in good standing, or ability to obtain within 90 days. 3–5 years of negotiation and settlement experience. 3+ years of pre-litigation experience; personal injury experience preferred. 3+ years of experience leading or mentoring legal staff. Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and work independently under deadlines.
