Step into a rewarding contract role as an ASL paraprofessional, supporting a kindergarten student in a vibrant elementary setting. This temporary opportunity is ideal for compassionate individuals with strong American Sign Language skills, seeking to make a positive impact in a school community.
Your day will run from 8:15am to 2:50pm, working closely with one student to facilitate her learning, communication, and social development. You'll enjoy built-in short breaks throughout the day, as well as a 30-minute unpaid lunch, allowing you to recharge and stay energized.
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working with young children, preferably in a school or educational environment
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to inclusivity
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or coursework are a plus
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one ASL interpretation and communication support for a kindergarten student
- Assist the student in understanding class instructions, activities, and peer interactions
- Encourage participation and help build confidence in both academic and social settings
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and other school staff to ensure consistent support
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for learning and growth
