Job Description Reviews and analyzes cases in order to assist in preparation of case for trial. Establishes, organizes and maintains file materials, trial notebooks, expert witness materials, medical records, document indexes and lists. Locates and confers with expert witnesses and resource people. Locates cases, depositions, opinions, reports, witnesses and information related to the client matters. Contacts and interviews parties, witnesses and experts. Reviews and outlines depositions, indexes and summarizes documents. Utilizes computerized litigation techniques and software when applicable. Assists in preparation of the case for trial by drafting and preparing: subpoenas, exhibit lists, medical chronologies, deposition summaries, trial notebooks and contacting witnesses and experts. Operates standard office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, personal computer, typewriter, and postage meter. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge of legal principles and practices at a level normally acquired through formal paralegal training or a bachelor's degree. Approximately six months on the job experience in order to gain expertise needed to do substantive legal work. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of the work time when evaluating legal matters. Ability to proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors. Ability to collect data from diverse sources, establish the accuracy of the data, and summarize the data into a useful format. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow the instruction effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact. Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain while organizing and maintaining multiple cases. Ability to retrieve and distribute print volumes, push and pull packages, books weighing up to 20 pounds and ability to retrieve and replace objects from shelves of up to 8 feet high. Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours. Ability to travel to private and public buildings, locally and statewide, via private or public conveyance to assist attorney in attending to client needs on legal matters. #J-18808-Ljbffr
