This model succeeds only when expansion operates with the same precision as the educational product. This role is designed to ensure exactly that. You will manage the complete lifecycle of new school sites—from raw property to operational campus—while engineering systems that make every future launch faster, more efficient, and more reliable. This is not a conventional facilities development position. You are not being hired simply to oversee projects. You are being hired to remove obstacles from growth. That requires making decisive judgments on site feasibility, intervening directly in permitting and construction challenges, negotiating with suppliers, and enforcing timelines with urgency. Simultaneously, you will deconstruct every element of this process into structured, AI-enabled workflows that minimize manual intervention and enhance forecasting precision over time. What You Will Be Doing Make critical site selection decisions by assessing zoning, permitting, budget, and timeline viability through structured and AI-supported analysis Manage multiple concurrent school construction projects, directing construction managers, clearing roadblocks, and delivering on-schedule, within-budget openings Create clear, actionable capital project proposals that ensure stakeholder alignment on scope, budget, and delivery approach Oversee vendor selection, manage RFP processes, and negotiate contracts with an emphasis on speed, quality, and cost efficiency Break down expansion processes into discrete work units and construct AI-powered systems that reduce timelines and increase predictability What You Won’t Be Doing Functioning as a passive tracker who waits for updates from contractors or external partners Limiting your focus to one phase (e.g., site selection or construction only) without full accountability for results Depending on manual, improvised approaches that start from scratch with each new location Escalating issues without personally resolving permitting, design, or construction obstacles Spending extended periods securing stakeholder consensus without moving toward a decisive outcome VP Of Facilities Development Key Responsibilities Lead the complete expansion lifecycle of new school locations by delivering fully operational campuses on consistent timelines while systematically reducing time, cost, and risk through AI-enabled systems. Basic Requirements Demonstrated experience leading at least one real estate development or construction project from site identification through operational launch with complete ownership Experience overseeing multiple simultaneous builds or capital projects with direct accountability for scheduling, coordination, and problem resolution Deep fluency in zoning, permitting, construction, and vendor management, with the capability to engage directly with general contractors, architects, and regulatory authorities Proven ability to make tradeoff decisions involving cost, schedule, and feasibility with clear, quantifiable results Experience enhancing or structuring complex operational processes (e.g., permitting, design coordination, construction delivery) Proven capacity to decompose complex workflows into structured, repeatable systems and refine them continuously Track record of leveraging tools (AI or otherwise) to eliminate manual tasks, expedite decision-making, or enhance execution velocity Strong ownership orientation with the ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver tangible outcomes Willingness and capacity to travel up to 60% to active school sites throughout the US and be present on-site during critical development and opening phases Currently based in the US and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship Nice-to-have Requirements Experience scaling multi-site development or expansion initiatives Proven record of enhancing forecast accuracy and shortening delivery cycles across projects About Alpha Join the team building school around student growth Alpha reimagines the school day around faster learning, stronger mentorship, and more time for students to build real-world skills.
