Staff Accountant

Job Title Staff Accountant Department & Reporting Finance & Accounting – Reports to Accounting Supervisor. Wage Category Exempt Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements for both internal company entities and community associations. Oversee account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals; research and resolve discrepancies independently. Perform monthly cash reconciliations, process deposits, and complete accounts payable/receivable tie‑outs between management company and community association ledgers. Process vendor invoices, manage workflow queues, and prepare biweekly check runs to support accounts payable operations. Support the annual budget process and assist in forecasting as needed. Assist in the year‑end audit and tax preparation process in collaboration with external accountants and auditors. Continuously improve financial processes and internal controls, identifying opportunities for automation and increased efficiency. Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with retention policies and industry best practices. Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. 1-3 years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to both corporate and property/community accounting within the real estate industry. Strong communication skills. Proficiency in Google Workspace. Demonstrated understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation. Experience with accounting software; experience in AppFolio, Yardi, or similar systems is a plus. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline‑driven environment. Location and Travel Base: Columbus, Ohio. Limited travel to local and out‑of‑state markets including Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, Denver, and Florida. Physical Demands and Work Environment Primarily seated; may stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; requires close and distance vision. Work in an office environment.
