We foster a collaborative, inclusive culture where employees are encouraged to grow professionally while contributing to work that truly matters.**The Opportunity**We're seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Accounting Associate to join our Finance team.This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, values accuracy, and wants to see their work directly support groundbreaking scientific research. In this role, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of accounting functions—including accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant-related transactions, month-end close activities, and financial reporting—while partnering with colleagues across the organization.You'll play an important role in ensuring the integrity of Gladstone's financial operations and helping our scientists focus on what they do best: advancing discoveries that improve human health.**What You'll Do**As an Accounting Associate, you will:* Process check requests and allocate monthly charges from the UCSF Accounts Payable Ledger, ensuring appropriate approvals and documentation.* Review and process subcontract invoices and support timely vendor payments.* Manage intellectual property (IP) invoices and related rebilling activities.* Process cash receipts and maintain non-grant accounts receivable records.* Prepare federal grant fund drawdowns in accordance with sponsor requirements.* Process ad hoc payments and validate supporting documentation.* Review miscellaneous payment requests in Workday for accuracy and compliance.* Support corporate credit card administration, including account maintenance and transaction assistance.* Maintain user access and records within the Egencia travel management system.* Prepare and submit monthly reports to the California Employment Development Department (EDD).* Prepare month-end journal entries, including accruals, allocations, recurring expenses, and subcontract-related transactions.* Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and investigate outstanding items.* Provide backup support across accounts payable functions to ensure operational continuity.* Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.**What You'll Bring**We're looking for someone who combines strong technical skills with a customer-service mindset and a collaborative approach.**Required Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.* Three or more years of accounting or finance experience.* Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.* Excellent organizational and time-management skills.* Strong written and verbal communication skills.* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.* Experience working within an ERP system.**Preferred Qualifications*** Experience with Workday and any applicable AI-driven finance tools.* Experience in nonprofit, higher education, healthcare, research, or grant-funded environments.* Familiarity with federal grant accounting and compliance requirements.**Why Gladstone?**At Gladstone, you'll find more than a job—you'll find a mission.We offer:* A collaborative and supportive work environment.* Hybrid work flexibility.* Competitive compensation.* Comprehensive health and wellness benefits.* Generous retirement programs.* Professional development and growth opportunities.* The chance to contribute to scientific discoveries that improve lives around the world.If you're looking for an accounting role where your work has purpose, impact, and room for growth, we'd love to hear from you.\*Please include resume and cover letter**Salary Range:**$61-$72K**Gladstone Perks & Benefits*** *People*–work with talented, committed, and supportive teammates within an organization that values each member of its community.* *A meaningful place to grow and learn*–whether it’s your professional skills or scientific knowledge, we have the resources and environment to advance either so you can better support Gladstone’s mission to drive a new era of discovery in disease-oriented science and to mentor tomorrow’s leaders in an inspiring and excellent environment.* *Healthy work/life balance*–you are highly engaged and productive at work because you can have time to recharge and enjoy a vibrant life outside of work.* *Compensation*–competitive salary.
