Level 1 Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Emergency Room

This is a 13-week contract position.

4x12.0 - Weekend blocked, day/night rotational position, including holidays, on-call, callback, and charge per unit needs. A total of 48 hours per week is required.

The Level 1 Registered Nurse in the Psychiatric Emergency Room will be responsible for conducting intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history. The nurse will plan and provide nursing care for patients, make nursing diagnoses of medical and emotional statuses, and recommend treatment options. Collaboration with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff will be essential.

• Plan and provide nursing care; recommend treatment options based on nursing diagnoses.
• Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff to design treatment plans.
• Administer medications and note reactions, ensuring proper medical attention when necessary.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate medical records as per standard practices.
• Assist clients in understanding emotional disturbances and the need for treatment.
• Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician orders.
• Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and typing progress notes.

• Current New York State RN License is required.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role is required.
• Experience in telemetry is required.
