PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST I, CERTIFIED PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Job Purpose The main purpose of this full‑time position is to: Guide, support, and assist individuals on the recovery continuum; Facilitate the planning and implementation of recovery support activities for the LEAD program; Coordinate with Sheriff Deputies and other community partners. Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: None required. Licenses, Registrations & Certifications: Current certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist within 24 months from the date of hire from the Maryland Addictions Professional Certification Board (MAPCB). Valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the state of Maryland (if duties require driving). Special Requirements: Must be in a state of recovery for at least two years from a substance use or mental health disorder before being eligible for hire. Must maintain required certification through ongoing training as needed. Must comply with substance abuse testing in accordance with Maryland regulations. Failure to obtain or maintain required certification within 24 months of employment may result in disciplinary action, including demotion, suspension, or dismissal.
