Real Estate Legal Assistant

BUPD Law is seeking an experienced Real Estate Legal Assistant to join our growing team. Our real estate attorneys work on significant real estate transactions and development projects in Chicago and across the country. We’re looking for someone with substantial hands‑on experience supporting real estate transactions from contract through closing and post‑closing. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple transactions, documents, deadlines, and outstanding items simultaneously. Responsibilities Assist attorneys with real estate transactions from contract through closing and post‑closing. Manage transaction files, closing checklists, critical dates, deadlines, documents, and outstanding items. Assist with the collection and organization of due diligence, title, survey, and other transaction materials. Prepare, revise, proofread, format, and organize correspondence and transaction‑related documents. Coordinate document execution, signatures, closing documents, and other pre‑closing requirements. Assist with closing and post‑closing matters and ensure outstanding items are completed. Communicate and coordinate with clients, attorneys, lenders, title companies, and other transaction parties. Maintain accurate and organized electronic transaction files. Proactively follow up on deadlines, documents, signatures, and outstanding items to keep transactions moving toward closing. Provide day‑to‑day administrative and transaction support to the Real Estate team. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of professional experience supporting real estate transactions and closings. Hands‑on experience managing transactions from contract through closing. Experience working with real estate contracts, closing documents, title matters, transaction deadlines, and related documentation. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active transactions and competing deadlines simultaneously. Excellent attention to detail and strong proofreading, written, and verbal communication skills. Highly organized, proactive, and able to follow matters through completion with limited supervision. Comfortable communicating professionally with clients, attorneys, lenders, title companies, and other transaction participants. Tech‑savvy with strong Microsoft 365 skills and the ability to quickly learn new technology. Team‑oriented and willing to assist colleagues when needed. Law firm or title company experience is preferred but not required for candidates with substantial transaction and closing experience. Salary range: $60,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
