Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as a School Social Worker in the Grand Blanc area. This role focuses on providing vital intervention and support for special education students within a collaborative, onsite educational environment during the 2026-2027 school year (August 17 – June 11), with a weekly commitment of 35 hours.
Desired Background & Credentials:
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university
- Must possess one of the following: Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate (PSSWC), Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC), or School Social Worker Permit (SSWP)
- Current LARA license required
- MDE School Social Worker Approval
- Willingness to work on site and engage with K-12 students
- Experience working with special education populations, providing both individual and small-group interventions
- Ability to provide official university transcripts upon request
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students, determining the most effective interventions and support services
- Develop and implement targeted behavior management plans in coordination with teaching staff
- Provide individual and group counseling to address a range of student challenges
- Serve as a case manager for students receiving multiple services and maintain communication with families and community partners
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and conferences to advocate for accommodations and ensure comprehensive support
- Conduct home visits and help families actively engage in their child’s education when necessary
- Identify and report child abuse or neglect as required and implement crisis intervention strategies
