About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips, wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Description: This position involves providing nursing care to patients in a medical/surgical and telemetry setting. The unit consists of 32 beds with an average daily census of approximately 32 patients. Typical patient types and diagnoses include stroke, respiratory illnesses, renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wounds. The standard patient ratios are 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios potentially reaching 1:7-8. Certified Nursing Assistants will assist with activities of daily living, mobility, and feeding. Phlebotomy and support from an IV/VAT team are available 24/7. There is also access to hospitalist and intensivist services, as well as telemetry monitoring. The use of technology includes an electronic medical record system and various medical equipment. Floating to other facilities within the region may be required based on patient care needs. Scheduled shifts include weekend rotations every other week, with expectations to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays. The dress code for the unit is navy scrubs. The overall unit culture promotes teamwork and a patient-centered approach while maintaining a fun work environment.
