About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset, including cardiac rhythm interpretation Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone) Wound care and drain/tube management PIV starts and central line management Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg/Tele. The unit consists of 32 beds. The average census is 28 patients. Patient types include total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder surgeries, appendectomies, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, and SBO. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-6 during the day and 1:5-6 at night. In surge staffing situations, ratios may increase to 1:7-8. Support staff includes certified nursing assistants responsible for vital signs, baths, mobility, and blood sugars. There is a receptionist/health unit coordinator for rounding and secretarial duties. A charge nurse is available as a resource to assist with all nursing care. Phlebotomy services are available. The department is supported by a respiratory therapy team, hospitalists, and intensivists, all available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is also provided. Floating to other facilities may be required, depending on regional needs and scope of practice. Shift scheduling may include weekend rotations and potential call for low census situations. Approval for up to 6 days off is possible, excluding holidays. Travelers are expected to work a percentage of holidays. Shift times alternate between 0645-1900 and 1845-0700, with a 6-week scheduling cycle. Scrub color for this position is navy.
