About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years traveler experience required License: Nursing license (NC or Compact license pending ok for submission) Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - MS/Tele experience - Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Telemetry monitoring (both on-unit and remote) - Colostomy care - Feeding tube care and management - Blood product administration - Phlebotomy - Isolation precautions - Tracheostomy management - Use of rapid response teams Description: This position supports a unit specializing in holding patients within the emergency department. Patients may be waiting for an inpatient bed and could present with various medical and surgical adult diagnoses. Travelers may care for PCU-level patients. Travelers are expected to handle MS/Tele cases and float to different areas as needed. The unit has a target patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6 for MS/Tele cases and 1:4 for PCU level patients. Every other weekend shift is required. The unit functions in a fast-paced environment with high acuity patients. Contract staff may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting this specialty. The facility uses standard medical equipment, including cardiac monitors and IV pumps. All candidates will be interviewed due to a high turnover rate in the unit.
