Development Accounting Specialist Summary The Development Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing draw requests and coordinating accounting and reporting matters for Crawford Hoying’s development projects. This position requires keen attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills both face-to-face and in writing are essential, as this individual works across all lines of business within the company and interacts with other departments on a regular basis. Job Responsibilities (responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following) Development Project Coordination and Draw Functions Perform the following monthly draw request functions: Document and organize invoices and proof of payment for equity spent ahead of financing Collaborate with development project managers to ensure accurate invoice coding and budget allocation Import invoices from Northspyre into RealPage and finalize/close recurring periods within Northspyre Process and issue timely payments to vendors Reconcile project budgets in Northspyre against project balance sheets in RealPage Provide materials and information to Property Accountants during their month-end closing process Execute month-end processing of project management fees Manage escrow balances across both construction and operating property escrows, and facilitate related draw requests to lenders through strong, proactive lender communication Prepare and deliver monthly Tenant Improvement (TI) reporting to ownership on TI status across the portfolio, working in close coordination with the TI Manager across both construction and operating entities Ensure strict adherence to company policies and departmental controls to maintain compliance standards Maintain accurate records and control reports, proactively identifying and resolving potential discrepancies Leverage data analytical skills and technology to optimize and improve the efficiency of job responsibilities Foster collaborative relationships with cross-functional departments to ensure consistent and accurate financial reporting General Respond to and collaborate with peers in a timely and supportive manner Effectively prepare for and lead meetings (create agendas, provide materials, create a collaborative discussion environment, assign and follow up on tasks) Identify patterns and problem areas and make recommendations to management on areas of improvement Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Perform other duties as assigned Performance Objectives The 7 Core Values established by Crawford Hoying to maintain its desired culture Willingness to learn a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures Strategic approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting Flexibility in taking on projects Managing timely payment of invoices Perseverance in reconciling historical data Timeliness and transactional accuracy Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience 2-5 years of experience in real estate development or construction Experience with Northspyre and RealPage (or similar platforms) Working knowledge of accrual accounting Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking abilities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal Results-oriented attitude with a sense of urgency and an ability to work under deadline pressure Advanced knowledge of Excel and a proficiency with Microsoft Office products Bachelor’s degree Work Environment The Development Accounting Specialist works at the corporate office and interfaces with external and internal customers on a regular basis. Core office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The person in this position must be available to work additional hours as needed in busy seasons. Reporting Structure The Development Accounting Specialist reports to the Development Accounting Manager. Physical Requirements The physical condition of the Development Accounting Specialist must be sufficient for the consistent and successful completion of the responsibilities defined for this position and for conformance with all professional standards defined for this position.
