Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: New York license required in hand Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic charting experience is required. - Candidates will float between units. Description: MUST HAVE NEW YORK LICENSE IN HAND. This position requires experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. The unit consists of 16 beds with patients that include sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, and post-cardiac arrest management. Nurse patient ratio is 1:2, with occasional 1:1 based on acuity. Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of patients with multi-system organ dysfunction, and care of ventilated patients. Experience with CRRT, IABP, ECMO, and Impella is preferred. Responsibilities will include managing arterial lines, central line care, and cardiac drips. Candidates must have the ability to perform phlebotomy, monitoring for abdominal compartment syndrome, and assist with chest tube insertion/removal. Exposure to a diverse patient population including adults and geriatrics is expected. Interdisciplinary support services will be available including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. The unit deals with various patient diagnoses such as respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, sepsis, ARDS, and kidney failure. This role will be suitable for first-time travelers.
