If so, the Coordinator, Adoptions position at the ASPCA’s Recovery & Rehabilitation Center (R&R Center) in Pawling, NY may be right for you. Responsibilities Placement of animals through direct adoptions and arranging transport of adoptable dogs to events and placement partners. Maintain an up‑to‑date adoption pipeline and ensure sufficient resources for expedient placements. Collaborate with adoption center in NYC, veterinary, behavioral, and sheltering colleagues to develop transition plans for each dog. Provide compelling biographical information for public‑facing dog adoption profiles. Work directly with adopters to guarantee high‑quality placements and eliminate barriers. Conduct post‑adoption follow‑up calls, emails, and serve as a point of contact for adopters in need of advice or assistance. Provide backup support for transport and care & enrichment teams as needed. Assist with collection and management of animal health and behavior data. Support behavior treatments, evaluations, and maintain handling skills. Attend and meaningfully contribute to all relevant R&R Center and ASPCA meetings. Maintain financial accountability for work‑related expenses and track time worked and time off. Responsible stewardship of R&R Center assets. Qualifications Valid driver’s license upon hire and a safe driving record; must pass a Department of Transportation Medical Exam. Fluent in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with shelter software or Salesforce is a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to witness animals suffering medically or behaviorally and comfort with humane euthanasia in theory and practice. Strong collaboration skills, integrity, and a positive, engaging demeanor. Problem‑solving ability, resilience, and adaptability to change. Physical ability to drive up to 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, lift and carry animals up to 50 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds with assistance. Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment with exposure to chemical and biological hazards. Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Required professional or volunteer experience with animal adoptions and dogs. Minimum five years driving experience required; experience in professional animal transportation, veterinary/animal shelter services, or animal shelter is preferred. Fear Free Shelter Program certification required or completed within 60 days of hire. English required; Spanish preferred. Work Environment & Schedule On‑site role at the R&R Center in Pawling, NY. Regular schedule Tuesday through Saturday with flexibility for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Travel up to 20% of the time. Work in indoor climate‑controlled spaces as well as outdoor areas that may be wet, uneven, or exposed to extreme temperatures. Compensation & Benefits Target hiring range: $27.41 - $28.85 hourly. Salary may increase above the maximum through performance.
