Job Description

Fit Recruiting is seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk for a local healthcare organization in Mobile. This position will play an important role in supporting the accounting department through accounts payable, invoice processing, payroll preparation, and general accounting support. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Clerk will help ensure invoices are processed accurately and timely, employee paychecks are prepared correctly, and accounting records are maintained with attention to detail. The salary range is $30K–$35K, plus benefits.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and detail-oriented, with a strong background in accounts payable and the ability to manage recurring accounting tasks accurately and efficiently. This individual should be comfortable working in a professional office environment, handling financial information, and maintaining positive working relationships across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and ensure timely and accurate payments.

• Review invoice general ledger coding and make corrections as needed.
\n
• Process invoices in a timely manner to take advantage of available cash discounts.
\n
• Prepare employee paychecks and verify payroll changes for accuracy.
\n
• Review employee work hours and short lunches within the company's timekeeping system.
\n
• Prepare sales tax returns, as applicable.
\n
• Maintain the purchase order system and order office supplies, as needed.
\n
• Maintain the postage meter, as applicable.
\n
• Ensure accounting records, checks, and related documentation are accurate.
\n
• Follow established company policies, procedures, and accounting practices.
\n
• Maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and administrative staff.
\n
• Provide general accounting support and assist with additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
\n
• At least two years of accounts payable experience required.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
\n
• Ability to review invoice coding and identify and correct discrepancies.
\n
• Experience with payroll preparation and timekeeping processes preferred.
\n
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
\n
• Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information professionally.
\n
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
\n
• Dependable, professional, and able to work independently with indirect supervision.
\n
• Proficiency with standard office equipment and computer-based accounting systems.
\n
