Fabric Development & Sourcing Manager - Kid's Apparel

Our client, an established children’s apparel manufacturer, is looking for a highly organized Fabric Development & Sourcing Manager to lead material sourcing initiatives and support the development of high-quality products from concept through production. 5 days on site in midtown What You’ll Do Lead sourcing and development of fabrics and raw materials across global supplier networks. Research market and fabric trends to drive innovative sourcing decisions. Analyze supplier quotes, cost breakdowns, and development scenarios to optimize cost, quality, and performance. Negotiate lead times, pricing, and material specifications with mills and vendors. Manage material approvals, testing, sampling, and development timelines. Collaborate closely with Design, Product Development, Quality, and Production teams to ensure successful product execution. Identify sourcing risks and implement proactive solutions to maintain project timelines. Build and maintain material libraries while identifying opportunities to leverage materials across product categories. Track sourcing KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Mentor and manage a Sourcing Assistant, providing guidance and development support. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Textiles, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in sourcing, product development, or a related role within manufacturing or high-volume production environments. Strong understanding of fabric and trim development, supplier management, and costing. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Experience with PLM systems and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
