Staff Accountant - Full Time

Staff Accountant Location: Alexandria, VA – Hybrid (3 days in office) Benefits: This position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their Finance team in Alexandria, VA. This position will support day-to-day general accounting activities, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting within a collaborative and structured environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on General Ledger experience, strong Excel skills, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Perform day-to-day General Ledger accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records. Complete monthly bank and account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and other general accounting activities. Review transactions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate account coding. Assist with financial reporting, account analysis, and supporting schedules. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner. Maintain organized accounting documentation and supporting records. Collaborate with members of the Finance and Accounting teams on projects and process improvements. Support additional accounting initiatives and assignments as needed while meeting established deadlines. 1+ year of accounting experience. ~ Hands-on General Ledger accounting experience required. ~ Experience preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations. ~ Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems or ERP platforms. ~ Accounting degree preferred.
