Electronics Technician

About the Job The technician will assume the lead responsibility for repair, maintenance and calibration of laboratory and research equipment. 35% Repair of equipment: repair equipment in the field or shop (shakers, balances, pipettes, CO₂ incubators, centrifuges, ovens, PCR machines, hot plates, stirrers, mixers, etc.). The technician will contact vendors for technical assistance and instruct end users on proper use. 50% Calibration and preventive maintenance: calibrate equipment (shakers, balances, pipettes, CO₂ incubators, centrifuges, ovens, shaking incubators, PCR machines, etc.) in the field or shop. 10% Documentation: reply to service inquiries, prepare price quotes, enter service calls and calibrations into the appropriate databases. 5% Customer interface: promote the shop services to laboratories on all campuses. Qualifications Required Qualifications : High school graduation and two years of recent trade school or military training in electronics, or equivalent combinations of experience and education. Some positions may require state licensure under MN Statute 326B.33 Subd. 7 (Power Limited Technician). Preferred Qualifications : Proficient experience serving one to two of the following equipment: pipettes, centrifuges, CO₂ incubators, shaking incubators, PCR machines, balances. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $50,544 to $56,950.40; depending on education/qualifications/experience. Time Appointment: 75%-100% appointment.
