Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantWe are looking for a Staff Accountant with experience in processing accounts payable and general journal transactions. The ideal candidate is organized with proven experience in maintaining records and posting transactions in a timely manner. This position requires attention to detail, problem solving and team working competencies.Position ResponsibilitiesPerform general accounts payable functions including checking, verifying, and processing invoices, entering accounts payable data, and maintaining vendor filesCommunicate and collaborate with internal departments to obtain necessary information for proper invoice and payment processingWork closely with vendors to resolve any discrepancies or issues with paymentsUtilize strong analytical skills to ensure invoices and payments are posted to correct ledger accountsReview and audit expense reports ensuring proper approval, coding to the correct ledger accounts, and adhering to company's policies and procedures.Perform bank and credit card reconciliation, matching transactions to expense accountsAssist in examining and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standardsAssist in the preparation of financial reports and dashboards related to accounts payablePrepare general journal entry adjustments at month end; including accounts payable, fixed assets, accruals, prepaids, and other accounting areasPerform Balance Sheet Account reconciliations monthly to ensure account balances are correctly statedDeveloping and adhering to strong internal control structure and proceduresDraft recommendations for new and necessary controls for review by the Accounting Leadership and Controller.Provide recommendations for Accounting Policies & Procedures updates as neededModify and document accounting procedures for understanding, backup, and cross trainingSupport various projects within the accounting department, as neededHandle all company-related matters with strict confidentialityMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related2+ years of bookkeeping experience or relatedExperience in Accounts Receivable/Accounts PayableExperience in Public Accounting preferredExperience with ERP systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and ExcelMust have a United States Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a United States Security ClearanceTotal compensation for this role can vary from $75,000 to $85,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
