Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager-Strategic Sourcing. In this role, the successful candidate will develop and enhance contract and supplier management strategies to achieve target savings and cost avoidance for Clinical Product spend at NYU Langone Health. This position may be assigned to support any of the following clinical areas: Perioperative/Orthopedic, Percutaneous, Non‑Procedural, Capital Equipment, or Med Surg. The Manager will report to the Sourcing Director over Clinical/Research and will provide clear direction to drive accountability and results. The role requires category expertise, including data‑driven analysis of total cost value, RFP/sourcing strategies, and market knowledge to drive effective negotiation strategies on pricing and commercial terms. Job Responsibilities: Relationship Building – Manages requestor/end‑user expectations to ensure sourcing strategies align with departmental goals and needs. Cost Savings – Identifies, implements, and quantifies strategic sourcing savings opportunities. Business Process Optimization – Partners with key stakeholders and guides the sourcing team in initiating process improvement projects that help streamline the capital acquisition workflow. Sourcing Strategies – Defines sourcing strategies that optimize value, considering requestor/end‑user needs, market conditions, and health system alignment. Ensures the team achieves project timing, service, and savings objectives. Market Evaluations – Interprets market and competitive intelligence through formal and informal processes. Advocates competitive decision‑making in an efficient, resource‑intensive process and evaluates supplier capabilities to meet our needs through fair and thorough techniques. Analytical Skills – Possesses problem‑solving skills and is capable of analyzing and interpreting data both financially and qualitatively to present and interpret outcomes. Uses data to make recommendations to leadership. Supplier Relationship Management – Manages and enhances existing contracts with key suppliers through quarterly business reviews. Identifies and implements changes to strengthen business partnerships. Contract Background – Experienced in contract review and drives contract negotiations with the support of Contract Management and Legal. Instills a sense of urgency for supporting end users; takes proactive action to address any issues. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Position Specific Responsibilities: Exhibit excellent judgement; willing to make recommendations and provide rationale; knows when to elevate issues. Organisationally astute & resilient; exhibits tact and reads the room well; remains composed during stressful situations and can keep team calm and focused. Critical thinking; able to digest complex information or approach new concepts/categories and simplify to critical components; resourceful to find and build own knowledge base when needed. Integrity and ethics – transparent and always act with integrity; model the highest level of ethics for the team. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Minimum of five (5+) years of strategic sourcing experience, including at least two (2) years associated with managing people. High proficiency in business applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and ERP systems. Knowledge of procurement/sourcing processes. Preferred Qualifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus. Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
