Job Opportunity – Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs; 2:1 patient ratio (days, nights, and weekends); 72-hour orientation provided

Highlights:

• 24-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit caring for hemodynamically compromised adult and geriatric patients with complex, critical conditions
• Case mix includes oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleeds, sepsis, autoimmune disorders, and neuromuscular diseases
• Advanced procedures: mechanical ventilation, CRRT (NxStage machines), pulmonary artery catheter placement, arterial line monitoring, chest tubes, central lines, chemotherapy administration, and plasmapheresis
• Epic EMR required; must have current experience with computerized charting systems
• Robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and social services
• Two pre-approved time-off periods available during contract

Requirements:

• Valid Registered Nurse license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent MICU or critical care experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Epic charting system experience required
• Proficiency in ventilator management, IV starts, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, arterial line management, CRRT, and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with high-acuity patient populations with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Must provide 2 professional references: at least one from a manager/director or formal supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference
• Ability to complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon contract signing (strict compliance deadline applies)
• Must have worked consistently in acute care critical care setting within the last 12 months
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
